POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT PRACTITIONER

Meet Amineh, a Behaviour Support Practitioner with a strong commitment to neuro-affirming, person-centred practice and over 10 years of experience working within the disability sector. Drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience as a Deaf individual, Amineh brings a unique depth of understanding, empathy, and advocacy to her work. Her experiences navigating systems that are not always designed with accessibility in mind have deeply shaped her passion for ensuring the people she supports feel genuinely heard, understood, respected, and empowered.

With a background in psychology and ongoing postgraduate studies, Amineh approaches behaviour support through a compassionate and collaborative lens, recognising the importance of honouring each person’s communication style, identity, strengths, and autonomy. She is passionate about creating safe and supportive environments where individuals can build confidence, develop meaningful skills, and thrive in ways that align with their own goals and values.

Amineh works closely alongside individuals, families, and support networks to develop practical, sustainable, and evidence-based strategies that improve quality of life while reducing barriers to participation and connection. She believes that meaningful support comes from truly listening to people, valuing their lived experiences, and creating supports that feel accessible, respectful, and empowering in everyday life. Outside of work, Amineh enjoys spending time outdoors, whether that’s relaxing at the beach or going on a good hike. She loves reading, fibre arts, and spending quality time adventuring with her family. She brings the same warmth, creativity, and curiosity from her personal life into the way she supports others professionally.

“"Every person deserves support that honours who they are, how they communicate, and what matters most to them. I am passionate about creating spaces where individuals feel genuinely understood, empowered, and supported to thrive in ways that are meaningful to their own lives and identities.”" - Amineh Curmi

If I wasn't doing this...

"I'd be a marine biologist exploring and protecting ocean life."
